DEPARTMENTS

DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION AND SUPPLY

In line with its statutory role, the Department coordinates general administration, supplies and maintenance of office infrastructure. It is in charge of the Registry. The Department has amongst others the responsibilities enumerated below:
1. Handling of establishment matters relating to appointments, promotion, posting/transfer of staff
2. Security
3. Maintenance of infrastructure
4. Supplies and purchases
5. Sanitation
6. Coordination of the activities of the various departments that make up the Ministry
7. Functions as Secretariat for all meetings
8. Any other duties that may be assigned

DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND ACCOUNTS
The Department is responsible for the financial transactions of the Ministry and is headed by a Director.

FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT
1. Preparation of payment vouchers in respect of salaries, overheads.
2. Preparation of the budget
3. Preparation of Annual Appropriation Account
4. Maintenance of accounting records
5. Revenue Collection

DEPARTMENT OF ARTS AND CULTURE
The Arts and Culture sector has been in inception since the early 70s. It has direct working relationship with the Federal Ministry of Culture and Tourism and with its affiliate bodies. This department has the responsibility of promoting, propagating, presenting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of Edo State. n also serves as a resource centre for scholars through research and documentation of cultural activities and events. Its other functions include:

Preparation of cultural agreements and the co-ordination and implementation of such agreements.
Supervision of the State Council for Arts and Culture.
Responsible for Arts and Culture fairs, exhibition, festivals, theatres, Halls of fame and other related activities.
Cultural exchange programmes
Liaising with Government and non-government agencies on Arts and Culture matters.
Research and Publications of Books, Journals, Documentaries on the cultural heritage of the State.

DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM

The main role of this department is to promote Tourism in Edo State. The Department oversees the development and improvement of all Tourism facilities, resources and enterprises in the State as they are harnessed towards encouraging the rest of the world to visit Edo State. The department also serves as contact point between the Federal Government through the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) and the private sector through the State chapters of the Association of the Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN) and Association of Hotel Proprietors of Edo State and other stakeholders in the Tourism industry like craft men etc. The overall aim is to encourage private sector development and participation in the tourism industry. Other functions of the department include.

Promotion of Tourism activities in the State
Preservation of all tourism sites in the state and
Preparation of information and statistical data on tourist influx, travel leisure and emigrational activities to government for tourism policy formulation.

DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING RESEARCH & STATISTICS

In view of the need to collect and collate data about the cultural practices and Tourism sites of the State, a department of Research and Statistics was created in the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism in 2010. Its functions are:
To research into past and current cultures of Edo people and to document same for posterity.
It is also to document and publish Tourism sites and potentials of the State with a view to attracting or inviting tourists from around the world.
The department is responsible for publishing the state monthly cultural magazine on cultures and tourism, of international standard with a view to projecting the State into world tourism map.
Data collection.
Working relationship with the State Directorate of ICT.
