The Igue festival, is a period for offering thanks to the gods for sparing the lives of the binis and to ask for more blessings.

Igue festival ushers in the New Year for every Edo-speaking person. Igue emphasizes “the ritual of Head worship” by every Edo-speaking people. It takes place during this time of year.

This year festival began on the 15th of December to end on the 25th of December with a thanksgiving service at Holy Aruosa Cathedral church.

During this period, chieftaincy title holders display their Eben emblem in the Ugie dance as they appear in their traditional attire, according to the type of dress the Oba bestowed on individual chiefs during the conferment of title.
