Policy Regulating Commercial Activities in the Ministry


 

        

Policy regulating Commercial Activities in the Ministry are derived from the 1993 gazette  setting up the functions of the Ministry. These are:

(i)         Commerce and Industries.
(ii)        Trade Fairs and Exhibition.
(iii)       Industrial Estates
(iv)       Nigerian Enterprise Promotion Committee
(v)       Tourism and State Hotel (This function has been transferred to Ministry of Arts and Culture).
(vi)       Produce Marketing.
(vii)      Cooperatives
(viii)     Bulk Purchases and Supplies
(ix)       Small Scale Industrial Schemes
(x)        Monitoring of Fuel Supply
(xi)       Registration of Business Premises
(xii)      State Investments.
(xiii)     Productivity, Price and Income matters.

In order to carry out these functions effectively in the Ministry, three functional departments are created in addition to mandatory Departments, these are Industries Department, Commercial Department, and Cooperative Department.  There are law regulating the performance of the functions such as the business premises law and the Cooperative law.
