As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of our great nation Nigeria, I salute all Edo citizens and Nigerians, who have continued to work towards actualizing the vision of a truly great and prosperous country.
I also rejoice with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, on this auspicious occasion.
Despite our travails and challenges as a country, we give thanks to Almighty God for preserving us as a people and ensuring that the labour of our heroes past has not been in vain.
The just concluded governorship poll in Edo State is evidence of the commitment of the government and people to the deepening of our democracy, which invariably is the instrument for the upliftment of our people and improving our collective wellbeing.
We are conscious of the daunting task of charting the course of our collective destiny, and the personal and collective sacrifices required, but remain committed to upholding the unity of our country and striving together to attain assured greatness.
We are confident that after 60 years of nationhood and having surmounted numerous obstacles and uncertainties, our faith in the future of our country remain unwavering, as we continue to forge ahead as one indivisible and prosperous nation.
Happy Independence Anniversary. Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
