Azura-Edo Power Company in partnership with the Edo State Skills Development Agency, (EdoJobs), has trained 45 business owners drawn from the power firm’s host community on business management and digital marketing skills to boost their capacity to grow and expand their businesses.
The training programme, which forms part of the Edo Azura’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), held at the Edo Innovation Hub, Benin City, the Edo State capital.
Managing Director of EdoJobs, Ukinebo Dare, said the programme provided beneficiaries the opportunity to acquire requisite skills to grow their businesses and benefit from expert advice.
According to her, “The training programme focused on business plan mastery and execution, which exposed participants to the art and science of running successful businesses. They were also trained on how to choose the right mentors from whom to glean business nuggets.
“We also exposed them to the rudiments of digital marketing; business management and leadership; legal matters for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs); marketing strategy and pricing; customer profiling, acquisition and excellent service as well as financial management, pricing and book keeping.”
She noted that EdoJobs is partnering with several organisations in the state to build the capacity of youths and business owners to run successful businesses, adding, “The plan is to ensure that there is cross-fertilisation of ideas so that as many people as possible can leverage on the learning points of their colleagues to become profitable and expand the economic base of the state.”
Dare added that the partnership with Azura-Edo is intended to benefit the company’s host community who will be provided with the right capacity building programmes to improve their livelihood
