Obaseki pledges improved infrastructure, policies to enhance growth of logistics sector

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said his government will sustain investment in security and infrastructural development, ensuring an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

Obaseki gave the assurance when he received members of the Edo State Bike/Tricycle Delivering Association (EDSBTDA), who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House in Benin City.

The governor who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, reaffirmed his government’s support for the growth of the state’s logistics sector.

According to him, “the Edo State Government knows the importance of logistics businesses in the state, and we are in support of their services and activities. As a government, we would continue to ensure that it is not used for criminal activities but rather to positively impact on the lives of Edo people.

“We commend the group for the collaboration with the police and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). We have law-abiding citizens in the state and the Government will ensure it addresses anything that leads to disorderliness in the State.”

“We have created the enabling environment for businesses to thrive in the State and will continue to support your logistics business, ensuring that you succeed.”

Charging the group on the need to pay their taxes to ensure sustainable growth and development in the state, Obaseki said, “We are operating a cashless system in terms of tax collection. We are working hard and blocking leakages in tax collection. We encourage you to continue to pay your tax.”

Earlier, president of the association, Chukwumere Emmanuel, said the group will sustain partnership with the government in promoting logistics business in the state.
