Obaseki inspects Ekehuan Road dualization, Agric college projects

… charges faster approach to beat rainy season

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has inspected the Ekehuan Road dualization project and the progress of work at the College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, noting that the state government was committed to delivering enduring infrastructure projects to Edo people.

The governor, who toured the projects in company of members of the Edo State Executive Council, noted that the projects are aimed at improving economic activities and providing a conducive environment to advance learning, research and development.

While inspecting the dualization of Ekehuan Road, the governor expressed worry over the pace of the project, impressing on the contractor the need to cover a substantial part of the project before the rains set in.

According to him, “The issue with this project is not money. We have the money for this project. We have had the money for a long time but we need the project contractor to speed up work so that the rain does not disrupt the work they have done.”

The governor noted that the contractor needed to change his approach to the project, adding, “I would rather that the contractor completes a 5km stretch on one lane before the rains commence so that when it starts to rain, the people can use the completed lane to access their homes. After that, they can then continue work on the other lane. We need the work to progress really fast.”

The governor, who also inspected work at the College of Agriculture, Iguoriakhi, said with appreciable work done on the building projects, it was necessary to commence work on the gate house and perimeter fence of the college.
