Edo poly rector hails Obaseki’s strides in education, as school matriculates over 1000 new students

The Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, has matriculated 1,050 new students into its National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes for the 2021/ 2022 academic session.

In an address, the Rector of the polytechnic, Professor Abiodun Falodun, applauded Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, for his consistent support in ensuring that the institution becomes a world-class polytechnic.

He noted that the governor was instrumental in the success recorded during the last accreditation and resource inspection of programmes in the polytechnic.

According to him, “It is my pleasure to inform you that during the last accreditation exercise, some academic programmes were fully accredited by NBTE. The Management is also making preparations to invite NBTE for accreditation and resource inspection of more programmes (precisely, the NBTE team will visit Edo Poly 23rd and 24th March). Our sincere gratitude to His Excellency, Mr Godwin Obaseki for the invaluable assistance in the accreditation exercise”

Prof. Falodun also recounted the achievements of the polytechnic in the aspect of producing market-ready graduates.

He stressed that the polytechnic has instituted the Greg Ogbeifun Institute of Maritime Technology, the Santua Institute of Horticulture Technology, the Austin Laz Institute of Refrigeration Technology and a new programme in Crime Management, noting that the polytechnic mandate is to produce functional, quality and market-ready graduates who will provide the needed technical manpower for industries.

The rector added that the Germany Embassy in Nigeria has approved the institution as a hub for job creation and urged the students to embrace innovative initiatives of the polytechnic that will groom them as topnotch in their chosen programmes.

He further charged the matriculants to shun cultism as the polytechnic has zero tolerance for cult activities and other anti-social behaviours.

In a matriculation lecture titled, “Polytechnic Students’ Academic Journey Between Matriculation and Graduation.” Prof. Mon Nwadiani, from the Department of Educational Management, University of Benin, urged the matriculants to deliberately drive and sustain the realization of their dream and vision through the activation of cogno-emotional intelligence.
