Teaching, Learning Begin Immediately in Edo as School Resumes January 9th – Commissioner

She reiterated the resolve of the State Government to continue the enforcement of the Child Rights Law in the State, which forbids any child of school age to be loitering during school hours

The Edo State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe, has stated the State Government’s readiness for the second term school resumption on Monday 9th January, 2023.

Dr. Oviawe said in preparation for seamless take-off of teaching and learning activities in all the Basic, Senior and Technical schools across the State, the various schools’ leaderships have been directed to resume much earlier, in order to prepare the school environment for academic activities, thereby forestalling the loss of time that might be occasioned by cleaning exercises, especially on the first day of resumption.

She reiterated the resolve of the State Government to continue the enforcement of the Child Rights Law in the State, which forbids any child of school age to be loitering during school hours, adding that the School O’clock programme will deal decisively with that.

The news crew visited some schools including St. Maria Goretti, Niger College, and Imaguero College, where the Executive Principals shared their levels of preparedness.

The Principals appealed to parents and guardians to prepare their children and wards for resumption as the State runs a unified academic calendar which accounts for every minute spent in school.
