The Edo State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (EDSPHCDA) has organized an Award/Cocktail event tagged “An Evening with the ES”. The event which held at the Hospital Management Board premises, King Square, Benin City, was organised to celebrate partners and staff of EDSPHCDA as well as Heads of Local Government Areas, for their support and contributions to quality primary healthcare service delivery in Edo State.
The fun-filled event saw awards of merit presented by the Edo State Commissioner for Health, Professor Obehi Akoria to eleven (11) partners and four (4) Heads of Local Government Areas (HOLGAS), for their support in various activities in primary healthcare such as Covid-19 vaccination and Lassa fever Control.
The top five (5) LGAs namely Oredo, Etsako East, Uhunmwonde, Ovia South West, and Akoko Edo received letters of commendation from the Executive Secretary, EDSPHCDA, Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen, in recognition of their performance on Covid-19 vaccination activities in Edo State.
The Commendation letters were presented to the recipients by the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikhare; Hon. Commissioner for Mining and Energy, Engineer Ethan Uzamere, and Director General, Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Rock Amegor.
The Local Immunization Officers (LIOs) in the five LGAs also received brand new laptops donated by one of the partners, the MOMENTUM Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity (M-RITE), in recognition of their achievements in Covid-19 vaccinations in their various LGAs, presented to them by the Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Strategy, Policy, Project and Performance Management, Mrs. Sarah Ajose-Adeogun.
In attendance was the Deputy Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Comrade Phillip Shaibu who surprised guests at the event when he showed up with his entourage. The participants were elated as Shaibu cut the exquisitely adorned cake and posed for pictures with the Executive Secretary and other dignitaries present at the event.
Another highpoint of the event was the celebration of the Director of Procurement Department, Mr. Godwin Oide. The Executive Secretary (ES), EDSPHCDA, Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen, paid a glowing tribute to the retired Director. Wishing him well in his future endeavours, the ES stated that Oide had put in his best in his service to the State through the Agency and would be greatly missed. The EDSPHCDA family joined the family and friends of the retired Director in celebrating his retirement from service.
The party came to an end as staff, partners and other guests present danced and enjoyed themselves while looking ahead to a better and more fruitful 2023.
