The Edo State government, on Friday, February 3, 2023, held a dinner to honour two former service commanders in the State who displayed exemplary leadership in their service.
The dinner was held at the Government House, Benin City, to sendforth/celebrate the promotion of AIG Abutu Yaro and Air Vice Marshal Olasunkanmi Rasheed Abidoye – who served in the State as the Commissioner of Police and the Commander of the Nigerian Air force 107 Air Maritime Group respectively.
The State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, appreciated the officers for their tremendous contribution to the peace and security currently being enjoyed in the State.
He charged security operatives in the State not to relent in their efforts in making Edo a more secure place, and emphasised the need for continued cooperation and collaboration among security agencies.
“Our goal is to make sure that Edo is the most secure state in this country. We will not take our eyes off the ball”, the governor said.
In their remarks, the two officers appreciated the Edo State government for putting together the event, declaring that Edo will continually be their home.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts to the celebrants and their spouses.
Present at the occasion were high-ranking government functionaries, traditional and religious leaders, security chiefs, and political aspirants, amongst others.
