The Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Mr. Chris Nehikhare, has charged Edo youths to channel their energy and ideas into productive ventures and shun social vices.
Mr. Nehikhare stated this while playing host to the leadership of the National Association of Edo State Students (NAESS), University of Benin Chapter, who were on a courtesy visit to the Ministry in Benin City.
The Commissioner, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Desmond Agbama, noted that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration is students-friendly, assuring of the Ministry’s support for the students association in promoting art, values and innovation that will foster peaceful coexistence in the citadel of learning.
Mr. Nehikhare further encouraged the leadership of NAESS to see themselves as ambassadors, and project the image of the State in a good light.
Earlier, the President of NAESS, UNIBEN Chapter, Mr. Evans Ohiosumuan, congratulated the Commissioner on his reappointment and sued for collaboration and partnership between the Ministry and NAESS.
Mr. Ohiosumuan used the visit to formally inform the Commissioner of their Cultural Day event which has been slated for 25th November 2023, noting that the event is geared towards promoting the rich cultural heritage of the State and fostering unity among all Edo State Students, both in UNIBEN and across the State.
