The Edo State Civil Service Secretariat Complex has been officially inaugurated by former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, accompanied by his wife, Her Excellency, Dame Patience Jonathan, in the commissioning of the state-of-the-art facility in Benin City.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Jonathan expressed his admiration for the Edo State Government’s vision and dedication. “This complex stands as a symbol of progress and a beacon of hope for efficient governance in Edo State. I commend the Government for its unwavering commitment to developing infrastructure that supports the public service,” he said.
In addition to the commissioning of the Secretariat Complex, the event also featured the groundbreaking ceremony for a 1,500-seat capacity hall located within the Secretariat Complex. The hall is poised to become a central venue for state functions, conferences, and various large-scale events.
Dr. Jonathan, in his address, highlighted the importance of such infrastructure in fostering community engagement and enhancing the State’s capacity to host significant events.
He also performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a new creche centre within the Secretariat Complex. The facility is aimed at providing quality childcare services for the children of public servants, ensuring that employees can work with peace of mind knowing that their children are well cared for during work hours. “The establishment of this creche center underscores the importance of supporting working parents and creating a family-friendly work environment,” Dr Jonathan stated.
Governor Godwin Obaseki expressed his gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Jonathan and his wife for their participation and supports. He emphasized the State’s ongoing commitment to infrastructural development and the welfare of its public servants. “These projects are a part of our broader vision to transform Edo State into a hub of excellence in governance and public service,” Governor Obaseki remarked.
The commissioning and groundbreaking ceremonies were attended by top government officials, public servants, and community leaders, who all lauded the State Government’s initiatives. The events concluded with a tour of the Secretariat Complex; showcasing its advanced facilities and amenities designed to enhance the working conditions for Edo State’s public servants.
The event marks a major advancement in the State’s efforts to modernize and enhance its public service infrastructure, which is designed to provide a conducive working environment for public servants; equipped with modern amenities to boost efficiency and productivity.
The completion of the project is a testament to the State Government’s commitment to improving public service delivery in the State, which is a worldclass office standard.
