The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa has inaugurated the State’s 4th Sports Festival Organising Committee ahead of the Nigeria’s 22nd National Sports Festival to be hosted by the Ogun State Government.
The inauguration, which was held in the conference room of the Deputy Governor’s office at the Government House, Benin City, had in attendance, the Permanent Secretary of the office of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Eki Abieyuwa Oyemwense, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Friday Aghedo, amongst other dignitaries.
Rt. Hon. Idahosa who expressed confidence in the composition of the Organising Committee, noted that he is optimistic that the Team will deliver great victory, which will prepare Edo to stand out in the forthcoming National sports competitions.
The Deputy Governor avowed that the State’s Sports Festival will promote community sports activities and talent identification, which is the needed springboard to excel at the 22nd National Sports Festival.
He concluded by inaugurating the Committee, saying, “On this note, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is my honour and privilege to formally inaugurate the Organising Committee of the Edo State Sports Festival to the glory of God and service to humanity”.
In his address, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele appreciated the Deputy Governor for the confidence reposed on the Committee and assured of the Committee’s effort in positioning Edo at top spot in the sports sector, amongst sub-nationals.
