The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has requested prayers for the Edo State Government from the Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
Mrs. Anani made the call when she played host to the Association, which paid a courtesy visit on the Office of the First Lady at the Government House in Benin City.
She expressed gratitude to the CAN representatives for their visit and continuous spiritual intercessions on behalf of the State. She stressed the importance of prayers for the State, saying, “The body of Christ is one, and when you have different denominations come together, it shows unity in Christ. It is essential we come together as one and pray for the leadership of this Government.
“The Bible says pray for your leaders. Whatever has happened, the Bible says put them all aside, and behold, everything has become new. So, this is a new era, a new Government, and we need your prayers. You are our spiritual heads because you stand in the gap for us”.
Mrs. Anani emphasized the need to emulate Jesus’ lifestyle. She said, ‘together, we will preach Christ everywhere we go. The Bible says they were first called Christians because they behaved like Christ. Our attitudes should be like Christ; we should replicate Christ in everything we do.
Citing the importance of love in the Book of Ephesians, she assured the CAN representatives of her support and requested their necessary support also, especially in praying for the State.
The President of the Association, Mrs. Eunice Ojezua, congratulated the Coordinator on her new office and assured her of their unreserved support, saying, “We want to congratulate you and we want to let you know that we are solidly behind you. We will always support you.”
The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Religious Matters, Apostle Sule Faraday, appreciated Mrs. Anani, describing her as a mother who will always work with others, being the Mother of the State also.
The meeting concluded with prayers by the Association for individuals, the Government, and the State.
