The Edo State Government through its Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has consulted with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vesa Fisheries, Mrs. Veronica Igbe, on areas to promote women’s economic development in the State.
The consulting Team, which was led by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Bisi Idaomi, was at the Headquarters of Vesa Fisheries Company in Benin City, as part of the Ministry’s mandate of promoting women’s welfare and develop in the State.
Areas of potential collaborations between the Ministry and the Vesa Fisheries Company in promoting women’s economic advancements as discussed by the consulting Team, included building of crèche for market women, who are nursing mothers; training women in fish business; and other related economic ventures.
The Commissioner appreciated Mrs. Igbe, describing her as a business mogul, in recognition of her outstanding legacies in the business world as well as being an inspiration for women.
Mrs. Igbe pledged her support for the initiative and appreciated the Commissioner with her Team, saying the initiative is a manifestation of visionary leadership on the part of the Commissioner. She expressed optimism that the collaboration will bring about exponential prosperity, considering its multiplier economic effects on women and their respective household.
