The Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has asked for the continuous prayers from religious faithful for the peaceful coexistence of residents and for the success of his administration in the State.

Sen. Okpebholo, represented by the Chief of Staff to the Edo State Government, Hon. Gani Audu made the call on the Coalition of Muslim APC Women, who organised a prayer programme, which held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub on Airport Road in Benin City, to intercede for the State.

During the Programme, Sen. Okpebholo commended the Coalition and solicited prayers for his administration. According to him, “I believe in prayers. Pray for this Government to succeed. Pray for this Government to have resources to fulfill all its promises. Prayers are never too much; please continue to pray for this Government. I urge all Imams here as well as our mothers to pray for the peace and tranquility for the people of Edo.”

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani while also commending the Coalition of Muslim APC Women for organising the programme, highlighted the significance of prayer as a unifying factor for families and the Nation. In her words, “I want to specially thank the Coalition of Muslim APC Women for organising this programme. Prayer is very important especially in times like this.

“Prayer is important because it is what binds us, what holds us together and it is what holds the Nation, holds the family and holds our community and we know that when women gather to pray something must happen. So, I thank you so much for this programme. It is not just a programme; it has a spiritual meaning and for that, I am grateful.

“I have witnessed the power of collective prayer like we have done today. I have seen how our communities can come together united in their devotion and commitment to one another. I appreciate the initiative that foster spiritual solidarity and intercession like the Coalition of APC Muslim Women, whose efforts are acknowledged for this event. I’m indeed proud of you all for this laudable initiative.”

Mrs. Anani encouraged everyone to foster a sense of unity and mutual support, emphasizing the spiritual importance of coming together. She said, “Let us continue to nurture our spiritual growth through prayers, mutual support and community building. By doing so, we will build stronger and more compassionate Edo State where everyone can thrive. Whatever affects one woman affects the rest of us and we must try collectively to uphold and uplift one another. Let us strive to build a community that embodies the values of equity, kindness and unity.”

The Leader of the Group, Hajia Salimat Momodu stated, “It is with honour and privilege that I welcome you to this epoch-making event tagged “Coalition of APC Muslim Women Pray” organised in furtherance of our resolve to support the Government. As women, we are not just nurturers, but citizens with a deep and sincere concern for the peace, progress and stability of our dear State and the Nation at large. All of which can be achieved through prayers.

“Our gathering here today is to call on Allah for divine guidance and wisdom for our leaders, peace and harmony in our communities, unity, prosperity and safety for all citizens of Edo State and the Nation at large.”

The event was attended by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Bisi Idaomi; the Wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Hajia Nimata Umar Ikhilor; the All Progressive Congress APC State Women Leader, Mrs. Betty Okoebor; traditional leaders amongst others.
