Towards achieving higher human capital development and National growth through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the Edo State Government through its Board for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (EdoBTVET), in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Engineering Craftsmen (NAEC), Edo State Chapter, has organised a one-day seminar at Irrua.
The Seminar with the theme, “Technical and Vocational Education: A Pathway to Self Reliance and Nation Building,” which held at Usugbenu Technical College, Irrua in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State, sought to explore the critical role of TVET in driving individual empowerment and National development.
In a speech, the Chairman of EdoBTVET, Barr. (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs, represented by the Board Member representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Dr. Peter Aikore, underscored the transformative potential of vocational skills, affirming, “Empowering our youth with technical competencies fosters self-reliance and contributes significantly to the socio-economic growth of our Nation.”
The State Chairman of NAEC, Edo State Chapter, Engr. Craft Victor Osaigbovo Edobor, in his remark, highlighted NAEC’s commitment to advocacy and capacity-building. He emphasized that equipping students with practical skills not only enhance employability, but also cultivates an entrepreneurial mindset, which is essential for Nigeria’s progress.
Engr. Craft Edobor on behalf of NAEC, appreciated the Edo State Government, EdoBTVET, and the Management of Usugbenu Technical College, for hosting the event, as well as to all facilitators and volunteers whose dedication ensured the success of the Seminar.
Attendees of the Seminar included students, educators, industry experts, and government representatives.
