As part of its commitment to promoting effective, safe and quality herbal health care delivery in the Edo State, the State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has approved the appointment of Mrs. Ganiyat Vivian Uwaifo as Secretary to the Edo State Traditional Medicine Board (TMB).
Speaking at a brief ceremony held at the Conference room of the Traditional Medicine Board in Benin City, the Chairman of the Board, High Chief (TDr.) Abudu Ugbesia Godwin Jp, appreciated the State Government for its continuous support and reaffirmed the Board’s steadfastness in ensuring that the use of traditional medicine is properly regulated to meet the health needs of residents in the State. He commended the Governor for his administration’s efforts in improving the welfare of citizens through inclusive health initiatives.
High Chief Ugbesia highlighted the Board’s ongoing efforts to include plans to establish a functional botanical garden for herbal medicine production, which according to him, will further strengthen the State’s healthcare delivery system.
In her response, Mrs. Uwaifo, who until her appointment, served as the Director of Shared Services to the Board, appreciated the confidence reposed in her by the Chairman, Management and staff of the Board, promising to give her best in carrying out her responsibilities, while assuring that she would work diligently to ensure that the Board grows to higher and better levels of performance.
Mrs. Uwaifo also expressed gratitude to the State Government for her appointment and pledged commitment to advancing the vision of the Board in actualising the SHINE Agenda of the State Government.
