In commemoration of the year 2025 Global Hand Washing Day, the Egor Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Osaro Osas Eribo, has flagged off the campaign of hand washing to promote hygiene in the locality.
The event which held on Wednesday, 15th October, 2025, at Uselu Market, had in attendance dignitaries from various departments of the Council and stakeholders in the locality. In his opening remark, the Chairman, Hon. Eribo, represented by the Vice Chairman of the Local Government Council, Hon. Kenny Isokpan, noted that the event marked another milestone in the history of the Local Government Area (LGA), as it joined other Local Government Areas in the State to celebrate the event.
According to the Chairman, “In 2008, Global Hand washing Day was celebrated for the first time. This day aims to make people around the world aware of the importance of washing their hands with soap in order to prevent diseases and infections.
Hon. Eribo while urging the people of Egor to embrace and raise awareness on the importance of hand washing, stated that the use of soap under running water is the proper way of maintaining a good hand washing hygiene. He added that many lives had been saved from contracting preventable disease since the inception of the Global Hand Washing campaign.
