Wife of the Edo State Governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, has called for collaboration among spouses of members of the Edo State House of Assembly, to help build a greater Edo State.
Mrs. Obaseki made the submission when spouses of the state’s lawmakers paid her a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City, the Edo State capital.
She said, “there is need for you to be friends to each other, as your friendship will enable you provide support to your spouses in discharging their roles as husbands, fathers and law makers in the state. I encourage you to be formidable as a group, which helps sustain the unity required to develop the state.”
“Ensure that you work together in complementing the roles of your husbands, not minding which political parties they belong to,” she said.
She added that, it was important for spouses of elected public office holders to build bridges of partnership, stressing, “you have important roles to encourage and provide support for your husbands, as the work they are elected to do is very challenging.”
Wife of the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Hajia Kabirat Adjoto, commended Mrs. Obaseki for how she has led by example by supporting the governor on his mission to build a prosperous Edo State.
She said that the wives of the members of the Edo State House of Assembly are at the Government House to identify with the wife of the governor as the mother of the state and pledge their support to the well-thought out vision for the state.
Hajia Kabirat also commended Mrs. Obaseki for her charitable cause in improving the lives of women, children and the less-privileged in the state through her pet project.
