As the 6th Alaghodaro Investment Summit got underway Friday, the Managing Director of Ossiomo Independent Power Plant, located in Ologbo, Edo State, Dr. Uwa Igiehon, said that his company has successfully set up a modern energy infrastructure in the State despite the challenges it faced at inception.
Igiehon who said this while shedding light on his company’s operations in the State, in Government House, venue of the summit, added that the progress that his company has recorded was on account of the tremendous support that his team has enjoyed from the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government.
He disclosed that several companies have been calling him to express their willingness to relocate to Edo State because of the availability of reliable power supply from the Ossiomo Independent Power plant.
The Ossiomo Power Plant boss said: “We have set up a modern energy infrastructure in Edo State and in terms of impact we have 24/7 power supply and it is 99.9 per cent. We have overcome several challenges, such as court cases and others.
“We have switched on the stadium, production centre, the secretariat complex, street lights, amongst others and over 20 establishments are ready to be connected to our lines.
“We have connected Ologbo, which now has more power than some places in Abuja. Several companies have been calling us to inform us that they now want to set up in the State because of the availability of power in Edo State.”
He added: “Our projection for industries in the Ossiomo Industrial Park is that power is available to industries in Edo State. We do not have the need to put our power in the national grid. A lot of the industries can attest to the stability of our network.”
Igiehon commended Governor Obaseki for the foresight in partnering with Ossiomo IPP project and assured that the company intends to expand its facility to more companies and households in the coming years.
