The Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration in Edo State has been commended for its developmental achievements within nine months, coupled with consistent commitments to effective service delivery to residents in the State.
The commendation was made by the Coordinator, Office of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Anani, during a stakeholders’ sensitization workshop, tagged; “Advancing Edo Together: The People’s View of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s Achievements,” organized by the Ministry of Information and Communication, and held at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City.
Governor Okpebholo, represented by the Head of Service (HOS), Dr. Anthony Okungbowa, highlighted the administration’s achievements to include enhanced Civil and Public Service through capacity building, improved welfare, regularized employment, prompt payment of salaries, amongst others. he emphasized the importance of accountability to the people on the part of government and the government providing security for the public at all times. He concluded that the government that knows its onions must report to the people that elected him into power.
In her remarks, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Anani, commended the initiatives and programmes of the Governor Monday Okpebholo-led Government, highlighting its commitment to dedicated service and reaffirming the administration’s resolve to uphold accountability and transparency. She noted that the Governor is approachable and listens to everyone.
Mrs. Anani appreciated the Governor’s responsiveness to requests, citing several notable instances including the recent medical bill offset, support for cancer patients, and various empowerment programmes for the vulnerable in the State. She asserted that the efforts demonstrate the Governor as a true leader for all and announced that her Office was working on a plan to provide soft grants of approximately N200,000 each, to individuals with disabilities who are engaged in business, with disbursement expected by November, 2025.
She urged the Ministry of Information and Communication to intensify its efforts in showcasing the Edo State Government’s accomplishments and projects to keep the public informed and engaged.
Earlier in his address, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, said the Workshop was to showcase the State Governor’s policies and programmes, as well as soliciting feedbacks and support from the people.
Highpoint of the event was a panel of discussion on the various achievements of Governor Okpebholo. It featured a question-and-answer session which got stakeholders’ opinions and suggestions on state governance.
