Anani tasks Afemai Women on Home Building, Empowerment

‎The Coordinator, Office of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has charged the Afemai Daughters and Wives Association on the importance of good home building in fostering sustainable peace and national growth.

‎Mrs. Anani gave the charge during an engagement with the Association at the Government House in Benin City, reiterating the significance of empowering women and strengthening family foundations. She noted that it creates a supportive environment where children can thrive, reducing the likelihood of them being drawn into cultism or becoming victims of violence.

‎She stated that empowered women can serve as role models, promoting positive values and community engagement that counteract social ills.

‎According to Mrs. Anani, “As women, we must be great supporters of our homes because the home forms the bedrock of our society. We must get it right from our homes and then our communities will get it right. We are dealing with a lot in the State, cultism, rapists, children being murdered and the foundation is from the house. These are the things we want you to talk about as women in our Associations. How do we empower one another? When one woman is falling, how do we lift her up? When another woman needs support, how do we rally around and help?

‎”This is not a place for gossip, backstabbing, or labeling. It’s a place where we must come together and unite as women. I am a supporter of women. I want to encourage us as an Association, let’s stand for more than just politics”.

‎Mrs. Anani expressed excitement about the leadership of Association’s President, appreciating her support during the gubernatorial election and her system of support for women. She encouraged the Group to tap into their inner strength and expressed gratitude for their cooperation, saying she looked forward to a collaboration that will make the State proud.

‎The Leader and President of the Association, Hajia Zuliatu Bello-Osagie, appreciated Mrs. Anani for the opportunity to engage with and discuss initiatives which are aimed at promoting family and societal well-being. She affirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting the First Lady’s Office in its efforts to advance women’s empowerment in the State.

‎According to Hajia Bello-Osagie, “We are particularly inspired by your unwavering passion for the welfare of women, children and the vulnerable in the society. Your initiatives in healthcare, education, gender empowerment and social inclusion have left a lasting impression on us, resonating deeply with our mission statement to promote economic independence and the political participation of Afemai Women”.
