Barr. Onomen Goodness Briggs has officially assumed office as the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), with the assurance of dedication to implementing meaningful reforms to enhance the quality of Basic Education in the State.
Her first day in office witnessed engagement with members of the Board in the Boardroom on the 8th Floor of Block D at the State Secretariat Complex in Benin City. She was warmly received by the directors and staff of the board who expressed their enthusiasm for her leadership.
Barr. Briggs, who appreciated the warm reception, reiterated her resolve to continue engaging global best practices as well as collaborating with appropriate stakeholders to achieve relevant and functional basic education in the State. She charged them with dedication to duty and teamwork, emphasizing that such remains the bedrock for success.
Welcoming the Chairman, the Director of Shared Services, Mrs. Beatrice Oluku, pledged the staff’s unalloyed support, commitment, and loyalty to ensure Barr. Briggs’ success and the overall success of SUBEB. She assured the new chairman of the staff’s readiness to work collaboratively to advance the board’s goals.
The appointment of Barr. Briggs follows the reappointment of Dr. Paddy Iyamu as the Edo State Commissioner for Education, by the State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo. Dr. Iyamu served as the Board’s Executive Chairman for two months.
