Edo State, under the visionary leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki, remains steadfast in its commitment to building a prosperous society by providing jobs for residents by empowering them with relevant skills and employment opportunities. In the first quarter of 2023, EdoJobs, in collaboration with its partners, achieved remarkable success, benefitting over 10, 000 individuals through a wide array of training programs and job placements. These initiatives were designed to equip participants with essential skills for various industries, fostering their personal growth and enhancing their employability prospects. Let’s delve into the key programs and their significant impact.

In an increasingly technology-driven world, EdoJobs recognised the importance of computer literacy and introduced the Computer Appreciation program. Over a three-week period, 300 beneficiaries from Egor, Oredo, and Ikpoba Okha Local Government Areas underwent comprehensive training on computer usage, internet navigation, Microsoft Office packages, and basic ICT and soft skills.

Understanding the growing significance of cloud computing, EdoJobs organised a 12-week intensive program called AWS Re/Start. Fifty participants from Egor, Oredo, and Ikpoba Okha LGAs received in-depth training in AWS cloud skills and certification as cloud practitioners, accompanied by employability skills training.

To enhance digital productivity, EdoJobs conducted a two-week training program for 50 beneficiaries, focusing on building custom business apps using the Microsoft Power Platform. This training equipped participants with the ability to efficiently access data without extensive coding skills.

Recognising the surging demand for web development expertise, EdoJobs provided specialised training to 100 beneficiaries over an eight-week period. The program concentrated on front-end web development, empowering participants with the necessary skills to excel in this field.

In the era of data-driven decision-making, EdoJobs organised a three-week training program for 50 beneficiaries, equipping them with data analytics skills using Excel SQL, dashboarding with Excel, and the technicalities of data analysis.

In line with nurturing the State’s fashion industry, EdoJobs offered comprehensive training and mentorship to 102 beneficiaries over three months. Participants learned essential skills such as pattern drafting, tape reading, cutting, and other aspects crucial to the fashion trade. Another program focused on practical sewing machine repair, maintenance, and installation, benefiting 50 individuals in Owan West and Etsako West LGAs.

EdoJobs also catered to individuals interested in the production of leather goods, organising a two-month training program for 42 beneficiaries. This program covered the production of shoes, bags, belts, sandals, and palm slippers, empowering participants with the required skill set.

With the aim of developing culinary expertise and event management skills, EdoJobs conducted a one-month training program for 50 beneficiaries. Participants learned various culinary arts, including the preparation of dishes, snacks, and finger foods, as well as event decoration and management.

The Stream 1 of the hairdressing training, conducted over three months, empowered 26 individuals in the hairdressing industry. The training encompassed practical skills such as bridal hairstyling, wigging, braiding, and locs, contributing to their professional growth.

EdoJobs also facilitated a four-day training program for 100 beneficiaries, equipping them with practical skills in the production of liquid soap, bleach, disinfectants, and perfume. The training took place in Ikpoba Okha and Ovia South West LGAs.

Recognising the demand for skilled welders and fabricators, EdoJobs provided an intensive six-month training program for five beneficiaries. The program included expert knowledge, starter packs, certification, and field learning experience, preparing participants for successful careers in this field.

These examples represent just a fraction of the diverse training programs conducted by EdoJobs in the first quarter of 2023. The initiative also organised workshops, exhibitions, and cultural events, fostering entrepreneurship, creativity, and employment opportunities across various sectors.

Furthermore, EdoJobs successfully facilitated the matching of job seekers to suitable employment opportunities. Additionally, 741 candidates secured employment, and 842 vacancies were sourced from 9781 walk-in applicants.
