Building Synergy is Pivotal in Establishing Sustainable Governance – Council Boss

The Acting Chairman, Akoko-Edo Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue has disclosed that collective responsibility is a veritable tool for the enhancement of sustainable governance.

Making this disclosure during a stakeholder’s engagement with the Executives of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, (NULGE) at the Council Secretariat, the Acting Chairman explained that he had maintained a cordial relationship with members of staff as Leader of the legislative arm, adding that he was ready to deepen the stance to engender growth in line with the policies and programmes of Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

The Chairman disclosed that litigations by erstwhile Council Chairmen delayed January salaries, assuring of the Governor’s readiness to address the situation, appealing for continued support for the State and Local Governments to foster an all inclusive governance process.

Rt. Hon. Alabi who sued for an egalitarian society, explained that it was the wish of the older generation to see up coming generations excel, while promising to prioritize the Union’s needs in accordance with the availability of resources.

Speaking earlier, the NULGE Chairman, Comrade Olorunda Friday noted that the meeting was aimed at expressing support for the helmsman on his elevation as Acting Council Chairman, pledging an unwavering commitment to the success of his administration.

Comrade Olorunda who noted that the Local Government Council was one of the best performing on health programmes in the State, called on the Acting Chairman to look into the payment of salary and promotion arrears occasioned by recent changes in the Local Government Administration, while reaffirming that the Association would cooperate with him in order to ensure a new Local Government system.
