College of Agric, Iguoriakhi to commence academic activities in January 2022 – Obaseki

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said academic activities will commence at the Edo State College of Agriculture in Iguoriakhi, Ovia North East Local Government Area of the state, in January 2022.

The governor gave the assurance during an inspection of ongoing construction work at the campus of the college in Iguoriakhi near Benin City.

He said, “You will recall that we promised to rebuild all our tertiary institutions. We have almost finished work with the School of Nursing and accreditation process is on and hopefully admission for the School of Nursing will commence later this month or very early next month.”

“There is also good progress on the construction work at the College of Education, Abudu Campus of the College. We are revamping Igueben Campus and we have started work in Afuze Campus. Accreditation for the College of Education has been completed and the admission process is ongoing,” he added.

According to him, “Iguoriakhi is the main campus for the Edo State College of Agriculture and there are two other satellite campuses and what we have seen here today is a major construction work.

“We are building all the facilities required to get this campus ready for academic activities hopefully by January next year. The accommodation for students is in progress.”

“It will have a 1,000-seater capacity auditorium, with another 250-seater capacity auditorium which you can see are under construction. There will be two buildings to host the six facilities that we would start with and hopefully we would expand to about eight later,” Obaseki added.

Obaseki noted, “The recruitment process for the faculty is currently ongoing. What I have seen on site here and with the speed at which the contractor is moving, this place should be ready by Christmas and this institution should be reopen by January next year.”
