The management of Niki Manufacturing Company Limited has presented packs of snacks and other food items to the Edo State Government, to support its relief package to children in vulnerable homes, who are affected by the state’s restrictions to halt the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Secretary/Solicitor, Niki Manufacturing Company Ltd, Barr. Adewoye Oyekanmi, who presented the items on behalf of the management and shareholders of the company, said the gesture is part of the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and also a way to identify with children at such a trying time.
He said that the items are meant for children whose schooling have been halted by the restrictions placed by government to control the spread of the deadly disease, noting that the company is identifying with children in Edo State.
Special Adviser to the Governor and Chairman, Strategic Planning and Programme Management, Dr. Uyi Oduwa- Malaika, said the state government is elated to receive the items, expressing appreciations to the donors for remembering Edo children at such a time.
She said, “We have children at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp and many others who have been at home for a while because of the outbreak of coronavirus. There are also the children of our returnees who need such support. So, the donation will go a long way to help in sustaining these children.”
She said the state government would be happy to partner with the company beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
