The State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, disclosed this on Monday during the daily virtual meeting of the State COVID-19 Taskforce, chaired by the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
Obi, who noted that the state was recording remarkable success in sample collection, case detection and management, said Edo recorded 58 new cases of COVID-19.
He said, “Edo State, in the last 72 hours, recorded 58 new cases of COVID-19, 57 more recoveries and no death. The 58 cases were confirmed from the 300 samples collected within the 72-hour period.
“We currently have 211 active cases that are being managed at various treatment and isolation centres in the state.”
Lamenting the community spread of the virus across the state, the Incident Manager noted that Egor and Owan West LGAs were worst-hit by the pandemic in the state.
While urging residents to support the government in its efforts at containing the pandemic and protecting the people, Obi charged residents with COVID-19 symptoms to contact the Edo Emergency Operation Centre on this toll-free number: 08003625000 for assistance.
Obi added: “Wear your facemask when in public, wash your hands regularly under running water, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers and observe social distancing.”
