…records one new case, two recoveries
The Edo State Government has urged residents to complement its efforts at winning the war against the second wave of coronavirus (COVID-19) as the state continues to record remarkable success in the management of the pandemic.
Edo State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, gave the charge during the daily virtual meeting of the State COVID-19 Taskforce, chaired by the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
He reassured that the government will continue to step up efforts to contain the pandemic and protect citizens, noting that there was need for all residents to comply with preventive protocols to ensure the government totally ends the pandemic in the state.
“We urge everyone to complement the government’s efforts at containing the pandemic by adhering to guidelines to curtail the spread of the virus across all our communities. We must continue to wear your facemask when in public; wash your hands regularly under running water, use alcohol-based hand sanitizers and observe social distancing.”
Obi said decontamination of homes and offices of infected persons, contact tracing and line listing activities, enforcement of the state’s COVID-19 preventive protocols and the vaccination of eligible members of the public, among other activities to contain the second wave of the pandemic are still ongoing.
The Incident Manager who said that only three active cases are in all its isolation centres, maintained that Edo has continued to record a progressive decline in active cases, case positivity and fatality rates, as well as an impressive rise in recovery rate.
According to him, “Edo, in the last 24 hours, collected 72 samples for testing and recorded one new case, two recoveries and zero deaths.”
Obi further charged residents with any COVID-19 symptoms to contact the Edo Emergency Operation Centre on this toll-free number: 08003625000 for assistance.
