The Edo State Health Insurance Commission has accredited 21 healthcare facilities to provide accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services to beneficiaries of the State Health Insurance Scheme.
Addressing journalists, Director General, Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Rock Amegor, said the scheme will assist the residents by reducing out-of- pocket spending and improve access to sustainable healthcare services.
He said the Commission accredited ten health facilities in Oredo Local Government Area (LGA), six in Egor LGA, and five in Ikpoba-Okha LGA.
“The Health Service Standard and Claims Department in charge of the accreditation of these Facilities has been on a routine inspection visit to various facilities in Benin City to ensure that only qualified facilities are accredited for the scheme,” he said.
The Director, Health Service Standard and Claims, Dr Osayuki Edosa-Iyayi, said “Twenty-seven facilities have been accredited for just primary and BHCPF Services, while eight healthcare facilities have been accredited for Primary and Secondary Services.”
She added: “We also have diagnostics and pharmaceutical facilities that have also been accredited. These accredited facilities have internet facilities and electronic medical records.”
“As the commission continues with the accreditation of more healthcare facilities in the state, we urge all Edo State residents to enroll in the scheme, as the governor is passionate about reforms in the healthcare system in the state,” the Director noted.
