Edo developing manpower to drive agric-based economy – Govt

The Edo State Government has stated that ongoing recruitment of staff into the Edo College of Agriculture and Natural Resources is part of many steps taken by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to reposition the institution in order to develop the needed manpower to drive the government’s robust agriculture-based economy.

Acting Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Peter Aikhuomobhogbe Uidia, in a statement, explained that the recruitment exercise is part of the ongoing reforms in the agriculture sector, which is a pillar in the governor’s Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) agenda.

Uidia maintained that the government is committed to repositioning the school as a foremost agricultural college in Nigeria that is purpose-built to provide critical manpower and expertise to support its revolutionary direction in agriculture.

He said Governor Obaseki has invested in the Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, with three campuses in Iguoriakhi, Agenebode and Uromi, to reposition the institution to compete favourably with the best specialised agricultural training schools in the world.

The Permanent Secretary charged all applicants for the vacant roles to submit their “applications in a sealed envelope, by courier, and marked ‘Application for the Position applied’ at the top left-hand corner to reach the office of the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources.”

Principal roles to be filled by the College include Provost, Registrar, Bursar and Librarian. Other vacant roles include Library Officers, Programme system Analyst, Staff Nurse, Laboratory Technician/Medical Technician Recorder, Pharmacy Technician and Laboratory Technologists, among others.
