The Edo State Government has banned all forms of forest exploitation in the state.
Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq, in a statement, said the governor gave the directive as part of efforts to curb deforestation and protect the state’s forest assets.
He noted, “It is hereby announced for the information of the General Public that all forms of forest exploitation in the State have been banned with immediate effect, until further notice.
“Consequently, movement of logs through land and rivers in the state is hereby prohibited.
“Law Enforcement Agencies are, by this announcement, directed to be at alert as offenders are to be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Provisions of the Forestry Law.”
