Edo Govt, NOA partner on release of Weather Information to Farmers

The Edo State Government and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) have agreed to work together to make weather-related information available to farmers in order to guide farming activities and mitigate the effect of flooding on farmlands.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Stephen Idehenre, initiated the partnership with a delegation from the National Orientation Agency, led by the Edo State Director, Mr. Austin Odile, paid him an advocacy visit in his office.

Idehenre harped on the need for the dissemination of information regarding changes in weather conditions that can adversely affect farmers in particular and other members of the public.

He added that if the information is provided on time, it will guide the farmers to prepare adequately, and disclosed that extension workers from the ministry have been sent to sensitize farmers on measures to adopt to reduce the effects of the expected flash floods.
