The Permanent Secretary, Edo State Ministry of Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs, Mrs Ifueko Alufokhai, has reassured survivors of mental illness in the State of the Government’s continuous support for them.
Mrs. Alufokhai gave the assurance while receiving the survivors of mental illness from some herbal homes recently in the Ministry’s Conference Room in Benin City.
The Permanent Secretary also expressed appreciation to the owners of the herbal homes who took care of the survivors.
She encouraged them to continue their good work and also carry the Ministry along in whatever they do while urging them to do their job because of the passion for it against just what they stand to gain.
Mrs. Alufokhai who handed over the survivors to their family members, also advised them not to go back to their old habits but to always find a reason to push forward and never feel alone, as the Ministry and the herbal homes where they came out from would always be there for them.
Highpoint of the event was the formal hand over of the survivors to their family members.
The 12 survivors from the three different herbal homes included rehabilitated drug abusers and mental health patients.
