The Edo State Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism, Mr Bamidele Obaitan has pledged his Ministry’s resolve to continuously occupy its position as the foremost state ministry to embrace modern technology and digital media marketing in Nigeria. 

Obaitan made the pledge while engaging stakeholders in the tourism sector at the Ministry’s conference room in Benin City.

The Commissioner unveiled the Ministry’s strategic plans for 2023 to include organizing a documented policy on Arts, Culture, and Tourism; periodic visitation and assessments of tourism establishments, sites, and locations across the three senatorial districts; organizing and participating in local, national, and international festivals, exhibitions and fairs as well as the construction of cultural statuses in all major points in Benin city.

He stressed that the assessment will include the grading and evaluation of hotels and other tourism outfits in the State. He also assured regular training for the management and staff of hospitality and tourism outfits in the State.

The high point of the meeting was a presentation of the Ministry’s achievements for the year 2022 and recommendations by various stakeholders.

The Managing Director of Ogba zoo, Mr. Andy Ehanire stated that there is a need for stakeholders to be up-to-date with the methodology of the tourism master plan in order to restore, protect and sustain the cultural heritage of the State.
