The Edo State Government has held an award presentation ceremony in honor of selected mentors with outstanding skills in training and mentoring graduate trainees under the Graduate Development Program of the State.

Speaking at the event which was held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy (JOOPSA) in Benin City, the  Head of Service (HOS) of the State, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., commended the Governor Obaseki-led administration for consistently practicing all-inclusive governance, which enables both civil and public servants to have access to quality training opportunities for personal and collective development for efficient service delivery in the public and civil service.

Okungbowa expressed appreciation to all the mentors and mentees who dedicated their time, energy and resources in ensuring the success of the program, and emphasized the need for continuous improvement in knowledge and skills, which he said would further attract more rewards in the course of discharging their duties.

Describing the General Manager of the Edo State Waste Management Board, Mr. Osadebamen Charles Imariagbe, one of the recipients of the Awards, Okungbowa said Mr. Imarhiagbe has excelled in his official duties with consistent performance and selfless services in the State.

A project titled “Transforming the Waste Management Sector through PPP Investments: Exploring Opportunities in the Waste to Wealth Initiative – Creating Pavement Tiles from Plastic Waste”, by one of his mentees, Mr. Iyokhun Obed Idenojie, attested to the impact of Mr. Imariagbe’s mentorship on the mentees.

Organizers of the event acknowledged Mr. Imariagbe’s creative ideas and innovative mindset for solving problems and discovering young and talented officers in the public service.

In his response, Mr. Imariagbe expressed gratitude to the State Government for the opportunity to serve the State, adding that the award is a call for more dedication on his part to discover more talents in the young officers and guide them in the right direction.

In his words, “With the outcome of this project, we shall be more committed to seeking lasting solutions to keep Edo State clean as we now have innovations through the just-concluded project to make pavement from waste materials.

“Meanwhile, our mission is to mentor more talented youths that will transform our State into a tourist center”.
