The Edo State Ministry of Justice has urged solicitors, legal consultants and other staff in the Ministry to support the state government’s drive in the implementation of the Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) agenda.
Addressing journalists, after a one-day retreat organized by the ministry at the John Odigie Oyegun Training Centre in Benin City, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Iyamu SAN, said the retreat was held to review performance of the ministry, and set agenda-setting for the future work plans for the entire ministry.
He said the retreat provided the opportunity to review “what the Ministry has done and where we are coming from, in order to plan for the future. It is a time for stocktaking. This is what we call a time of projection.”
According to him, “It is so because of the transition period we are in. We now have a new Attorney-General and Solicitor-General. His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has given a new matching order. He has given a charge, so it is necessary for us as solicitors and legal consultants to the government to sit back and review what we have done, where we are coming from and begin to project for the future on how we are going to be able to assist in achieving the MEGA Agenda.
“With the largest chamber in the State, we are determined to do more for the people of Edo State. We have only two clients, the government and the people. We intend to serve the people of Edo State to the optimum of our ability.”
