In a move aimed at strengthening the education sector, the Governor Monday Okpebholo led-Government has approved the recruitment of 500 new teachers to be deployed across public schools in the State.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, disclosed this on Tuesday in Benin City, shortly after resuming office at the Ministry of Education.
According to Dr. Iyamu, the recruitment exercise, which will be conducted in phases, is designed to fill the existing vacancies in public schools and ensure that all schools in the State have adequate and qualified teachers.
The Commissioner emphasized that the recruitment process will be merit-based, urging qualified candidates to apply through the official website and link. He warned applicants against making payments to individuals or groups, as the application process is free.
“We are excited to let Edo people know that senator Monday Okpebholo is a man that keeps to his words. He has given the approval for 500 teachers to be recruited into the education sector. This recruitment exercise will be in tranches and this is the first tranch of teachers to be employed.
This move is to ensure that the average Edo child gets the best in terms of education, even as we drive infrastructural development in the State.”
Dr. Iyamu attributed the recruitment drive to Governor Monday Okpebholo’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises, particularly in the education sector. He noted that the Governor’s administration is dedicated to creating permanent jobs for Edo people and ensuring that the State’s children receive quality education.
