Edo State Commissioner for Business Trade and Cooperatives Hon. Afishetu Braimoh has promised to collaborate with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council in promoting made in Edo products.
The Commissioner who made this promise during the launching of NUJ Food Mart in the Union’s Secretariat in Benin City, heaped encomiums on the leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists led by Comrade Festus Alenkhe for its laudable achievements. In her words “at a time when we are going cashless, at a time people struggle to get money, you have decided to do this, to make these goods very affordable for your people, I applaud you, Sir and I hope that even after you go, others after you will follow through with this and other achievements”.
Hon. Braimoh further pledged to help the union in sourcing for materials for the Mart adding that through the Ministry of Business Trade and Cooperatives, she will make sure that all made in Edo products will not only be displayed, but made easily accessible on the shelves of the Mart.
She enjoined all to avail themselves of the pocket friendly products that are on sale in making purchases while taking the lead after the Council Chairman in patronizing the Mart.
Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo state Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe in his address expressed gratitude to the Hon. Commissioner for taking time off her schedule to commission the NUJ Food Mart adding that the Council will appreciate any intervention from the Hon. Commissioner through the Ministry of Business Trade and Cooperatives .
The Chairman informed the Hon. Commissioner that the food Mart which is an innovation of the present leadership of the union, is one of the many positive things that have been attracted to the NUJ Secretariat.
Comrade Festus enumerated other laudable achievements of the present executives to include a fast-food center, renovation of the Secretariat amongst others adding that arrangements are on top gear for a bank to locate an Automated Teller Machine (ATM)in the premises of NUJ, Edo State Council.
