Edo State Govt. Awards Three Best Performing LGAs on Covid-19 Routine Immunisation

a cheque of 1.8 million Naira to Akoko-Edo LGA as the overall winner, while the second winner, Uhumwonde LGA was presented with a cheque of 1.7 Million Naira, and the third winner, Etsako Central LGA, was presented with a cheque of 1.5 million Naira

Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, through the State’s Ministry of Health, has organised a dinner/award event for Akoko-Edo, Uhumwonde, Etsako Central LGAs and other members of staff who emerged as best workers in the Ministry.
Comrade Philip Shaibu while appreciating all present at the event which held at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy in Benin City, stated that the dinner session was at the instance of the State Government and that it was aimed at encouraging and rewarding hard-work. The Deputy Governor further tasked stakeholders present at the event for more outputs and outcomes going forward.
Addressing the awardees, the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Obehi Akoria, noted that the Award of Excellence given to the best performing Local Government Areas in Vaccination, is as a result of dedication to duty and hard work. She urged other LGAs to restrategise and boost their output so as to meet up with the national standard in routine immunisation.
 Also speaking at the event, the Executive Secretary, Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), Dr. Omosigho Izedonmwen, disclosed that of the three Local governments selected for the event, Akoko-Edo LGA had consistently maintained her number one position. He further advised all to be vigilant and to always take proactive measures towards protecting themselves against all forms of viruses.
The dinner session was sequel to the presentation of a cheque of 1.8 million Naira to Akoko-Edo LGA as the overall winner, while the second winner, Uhumwonde LGA was presented with a cheque of 1.7 Million Naira, and the third winner, Etsako Central LGA, was presented with a cheque of 1.5 million Naira, as reward of excellence, dedication to duty and hard work on Covid-19 routine immunisation.
The cheques were received on behalf of the three LGAs by the Heads of Local Government Administration and Acting Chairmen of the Councils, as gifts were also presented to the best hard working staff of the State’s Ministry of Health.
