In a display of commitment to the welfare of vulnerable children, the Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has delivered three television sets with decoders to the Ugbekun Children Correctional Centre in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

During the presentation of the items, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Bisi Idaomi said the gesture was in response to a request made by the children during her first visit to the Centre. She counseled the children that only channels promoting their reformation would be permitted at designated times.

Chief Bisi announced plans to propose a review of some cases to the Governor and the office of the Attorney General of the State to reunite well-behaved children with their families. The children were visibly elated by the presentation and godly disposition of the Commissioner. Some testified to improvements in their meals since Governor Okpebholo’s assumption of office.

The appreciation speech in gratitude of the State Governor’s provision, was delivered by a teenage boy, on behalf of other children in the Facility. He described the Governor’s prompt responses as ameliorating their plight.

The State Governor’s commitment to the Centre’s renovation and the provision of television sets with decoders demonstrate dedication to creating a supportive environment for the children’s welfare and development.

On the Commissioner’s entourage were the Permanent Secretary and the directors of the Ministry. The television sets with decoders were distributed accordingly between the male and female hostels.
