Edo State Govt Honours Late Obi Patrick Isioma Goodluck Onyeobi’s Legacy

The Edo State Government has paid tributes to the late Obi Patrick Isioma Goodluck Onyeobi, a renowned leader, philanthropist and former Head of Service (SSG) under the Administration of Governor Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia, and Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to Brigadier Jerrimiah Tijani Useni as well as to Governor Colonel John Mark Inienger, all in the defunct Bendel State.

At the celebration of the life and achievements of late Obi Onyeobi in Asaba, Delta State, the SSG to the Edo State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., represented by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Osilama Okuofu, lauded the dedication and service of the departed to Edo State as part of Bendel State, which spanned multiple administrations; earning him a reputation as a committed public servant.

In the words of Ogie Esq., “Obi Patrick Isioma Goodluck Onyeobi was a distinguished son of the defunct Bendel State and of Delta State. He was respected for his contributions to the development of Bendel State and his Community. He was a respected traditional leader, a successful businessman, and a dedicated philanthropist. His passing has left a void in the hearts of many, but his legacy continues to inspire and motivate others.

“Notably, Obi Onyeobi served as Head of Service to three successive Governors of the old Bendel State. He was the Head of Service under Governor Samuel Ogbemudia and Secretary to the State Government to Brigadier Jerry Useni, and to Governor Colonel John Mark Inienger. His dedication and service to the State spanned multiple administrations, earning him a reputation as a committed public servant”.

Ogie Esq. praised the late Obi’s selfless service, noting that his impact on the defunct Bendel State, Delta and his people, would never be forgotten. He went down memory lane how the sterling administrative qualities of Obi Onyeobi stood him out in the world of icons like Brigadier-General Samuel Ogbemudia, Prof. Ambrose Alli and hoped those qualities will continue through those who sat at the feet of the great son of Bendel.

Governor Godwin Obaseki, in a condolence message, expressed his deep sadness at the passing of Obi Onyeobi. He described him as a “true son of Edo State” and a shining example in leadership and community service. The Governor praised Obi Onyeobi’s dedication to the development of the State and his unwavering commitment to the well-being of his people.

The celebration of Obi Onyeobi’s life was a testament to his enduring legacy. His contributions to the Old Bendel State and its people will continue to be remembered and celebrated for generations to come. The Edo State Government’s tribute to his memory serves as a reminder of the impact a life can have on many.
