By Eghosa Emily.

The Edo State Government through its Diaspora Agency, has advocated inclusive governance aimed at improving the lives of Edo State indigenes; at home and in the diaspora, irrespective of religious, political, tribal, or socio-cultural affiliations.

The Director General (DG) of the Edo State Diaspora Agency, Dr. (Mrs.) Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, reiterated the commitments of the State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, towards the development of the State, during a media chat at the Agency’s office at the Government House in Benin City.

Dr. Ogboro-Okor explained that the Agency was established to serve as a link between Edo indigenes abroad and the Government back home. According to her, the Agency aims to leverage the skills, resources, and experiences of the Diaspora Community for the development of the State, with particular focus on grassroots growth.

She emphasized that the Agency is dedicated to building sustainable channels for engagement, collaboration, and investment between the Diaspora Community and local institutions. Among the Agency’s key objectives are enhancing the welfare of Edo citizens abroad, establishing a comprehensive database system, and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Edo.

The DG asserted that the Agency would work in synergy with relevant ministries, departments, agencies (MDAs), and local governments to effectively contribute to the SHINE transformation agenda of Sen. Okpebholo. Appreciating the Governor for entrusting her with the responsibility of being the Agency’s pioneer DG, she assured the public that she and her Team are committed to their roles and will work diligently to meet the expectations of Edo people.

Dr. Ogboro-Okor called for greater collaborations and supports from the Diaspora Community and other stakeholders in promoting positive narratives about Edo State. “I must commend the resilience and patriotism of our Diaspora Community. Despite being away from home, your unwavering commitments to the growth and welfare of Edo State is both evident and inspiring,” she concluded.
