As part of efforts towards empowering women and youth entrepreneurs in Edo State, the State Government through its office of the First Lady has commissioned a chicken processing factory in Obayantor Community, in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State.
The Coordinator of the office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, disclosed that the factory is as a result of a tripartite collaboration among the Edo State Government, Heifer International, and Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited, which is aimed at supporting small-scale farmers in the State.
During the official handover of empowerment equipment, including solar-powered freezers and insulated carts, Mrs. Anani encouraged beneficiaries to fully engage in the enterprise to reap its benefits. She applauded the collaboration, noting that it demonstrates the power of partnership and collective vision in empowering women and young entrepreneurs in the State.
“The initiative is a testament to our commitment to empowering our people, particularly our women and youths to become drivers of economy growth and development. As we gather here today, am reminded of the boundless opportunity that lies within each and every one of us. The support packs are more than just resources; they represent a beacon of hope and a vote of confidence in the ability of our entrepreneurs. We are committed to supporting them every step of the way,” Mrs. Anani stated.
She commended the partners for the support and collaboration, noting that their commitment and vision of empowering Edo people is a testament to the power of collaboration and their beliefs in the ability of the average Edo youth.
“Let us build ecosystem to support innovation, entrepreneurship and economic growth, let us rise to the challenges of building a better future for ourselves, our State and our nation as well. Let us support our entrepreneur; let us work together to create a brighter future and a brighter tomorrow,” Mrs. Anani concluded.
The Country Director of Heifer Nigeria, Dr. Lekan Tobe, and Alaba Yunusa, representing Amos Farm, appreciated the Edo State Government’s contributions towards the Facility. They revealed that the Facilities have the capacity to raise 10,000 birds daily and to provide innovative technology to smallholder farmers.
Highpoint of the event was a guided tour of the Facilities, showcasing its potentials to drive economic growth and development in the State, through youth empowerment.
