By Osemudiamhen Gloria

As part of its commitment to nurturing young talents, the Edo State Government, led by Sen. Monday Okpebholo, has called on youth in the State to leverage the social media space for positive outcomes.

The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, made the call at the Phinix talk show, themed, “Content Creation and Social Media Monetization,” which held at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City.

Mrs. Anani appreciated the organizer of the event, Debbie Uche, popularly referred to as Phinix, for her patriotic acts of giving back to society. “I want to say thank you for having me here. It is an honour to be in the midst of your people. I always say the youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow. I want to thank Phinix for putting this together. It goes to show that we actually have young people that have the interest of the nation at heart,” She stated.

She emphasized the benefits of utilizing social media platforms for financial growth, citing the success story of popular social media influencer, “Aproko Doctor,” whom she said, began his content creation journey as an undergraduate.

“We know that social media is a business. It is global. Everybody is on maybe Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Tiktok, Facebook. A lot of people can make money from this. You see young people putting out contents and making money from it. The idea is that you use what you have to make money. The richest men today are entrepreneurs and if you see anybody that is a billionaire that is in Government, is a thief most likely. So, entrepreneurs are the richest people today. And social media have given us the opportunity to make that money,” Mrs. Anani submitted.

Miss Uche expressed gratitude to all guests and seized the opportunity to encourage upcoming artists, content creators, and youth across various fields of endeavours, to harness the power of positive thinking in achieving their realistic goals in life.

“I want to say thank you for coming out. To my young beautiful ladies; think purchasing knowledge, think purchasing valuable information, because the knowledge you get today is what will keep you till tomorrow. The information you listen to and the information you keep interpreting in your brain is what will generate wealth in the long run for you,” Uche advised.

In attendance were the Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Legal Affairs, Hon. Andrew Ewanta, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Pius Alile, amongst others.

The event also featured Berri Tiga, an Afro-beat Artist and a content Creator, Carter Efe, who has widespread recognition on social media platforms.
