The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Barr. (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs has commended the MTN Foundation for its donation of school materials to students of St. Maria Goretti Junior School, Benin City.
Barr. Briggs gave the commendation while acknowledging the donation of some academic resources, including notebooks and school bags, which were gifted by the MTN Foundation as part of its investment in education. She appreciated the importance of collaboration between the private sector and the State Government in improving learning outcomes in the State, stating that the initiative of MTN Foundation aligns with the Edo State Government’s commitment to quality education and student’s welfare.
“This contribution underscores MTN Foundation’s dedication to nurturing young minds by providing essential learning tools. Such partnerships are invaluable in fostering an environment where students can thrive academically,” Barr. Briggs stated.
While conveying the appreciation of His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, Barr. Briggs acknowledged MTN’s role in complementing the Government’s education agenda. She encouraged the students to utilize the materials and to pursue excellence in their studies.
The SUBEB Boss reiterated that under the Governor Okpebholo’s administration, efforts will continue to be made to improve learning infrastructure, enhance teacher capacity, and expand access to educational resources across the State.
According to the Senior Manager, Sales and Trade Development, Ogun Sales and Distribution, MTN Nigeria Communications Plc., Mr. Olaniyi Alabi, the initiative of providing academic materials to students is part of MTN’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support students’ academic development.
