In commemoration of the Edo State Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s first 100 days in office, the Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Barr. (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs disclosed that the Board has embarked on the renovation, reconstruction of school buildings in the State.

Barr. Briggs made the disclosure during an inspection exercise of ongoing school projects in Edo Central Senatorial District, maintaining that the initiative is in line with the Governor’s vision to deliver quality educational infrastructures through extensive renovations and reconstruction of school buildings across the State.

The SUBEB Chairman was accompanied by the Board Member representing the Senatorial District, Chief Christopher Abuya and Engr. Martin Amune. The Chairman said the visit was part of a broader review to ensure that the Governor’s vision is fully realized and submitted that the projects are aimed at providing safe, modern learning environments that empower every child to thrive.

During the inspection, the Team evaluated progress at the sites of several schools’ projects, including Ebhoakhuala Primary School in Ekpoma, where the Site Engineer, Mr. Samson Walter, and the Headmistress, Mrs. Umoera Beatrice, showcased a newly constructed block of six classrooms, an office, and a toilet facility. At Eko-Omigie Primary School, Urohi in Esan West, the Team inspected a completed block of four classrooms and an office, awaiting furnishings. The renovation works at Atani Primary School and Egbele Primary School in Uromi were reviewed.

At the end of the tour, the Chairman appreciated the quality of work, noting that the improvements were markedly superior to those observed during the Edo South visit earlier in the week. Recall that a similar exercise in Edo South Senatorial District took place earlier in the week, testifying the State Government’s commitment to comprehensive oversight.

Barr. Briggs emphasized that such inspections are essential to ensuring the timely delivery of the Governor’s ambitious plan to renovate and reconstruct over a hundred schools during his first hundred days in office; a significant milestone in the State Government’s commitment to providing quality education. She assured that commissioning of the completed school buildings would commence in the coming weeks.
