Edo to collaborate with POWA on healthcare, education, others

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has disclosed plans to partner with the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) in the area of education, healthcare and empowerment, among others.

Obaseki disclosed this while receiving the wife of the Inspector General of Police and National President of POWA, Hajia Hajara Usman Baba Alkali and other executive members of POWA, who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City.

The governor, represented by his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu, restated the government’s commitment to upgrading the state’s education and healthcare sectors.

According to him, “Following the success recorded with the introduction of EdoBEST, the state government introduced EdoBEST 2.0, to address secondary, tertiary and technical education in Edo State.

“We have also revamped our healthcare sector to bring healthcare closer to the people, making it accessible and affordable for Edo citizens.

“Empowerment is another focal point for this administration. We are ready to collaborate with you on education, healthcare and empowering our people.”

“We will also sit with you to see where we can partner in the area of skill acquisition for our women. We are concerned about the security situation in the country as the security agencies need our cooperation to combat crime in the society,” he noted.

On her part, the National President of POWA said the team, under her leadership, is focusing on three agenda; including education, healthcare and empowerment.

“We have done a lot in healthcare, education and empowering our women with skills to advance the course of our women,” she added.
